Good food and atmosphere

One of the best hometown restaurants in Arlington! Walked in with a large take out order(7 people) and they whipped it out in about 30 minutes. Everything was hot and perfectly cooked. I was stuffed and excited for leftovers. Will be coming back for more

My wife's favorite restaurant in Shelby county! Go here when you want a good steak or a good pork chop or pretty much anything on the menu will make you happy!! Ice cream and fried pies too!!

Seriously some of the best home cooking in this country. The attention to freshness and doing things the right way will have us coming back frequently.

This place sure knows how to take care of their customers. Consistently with a nice mindset. The food is conveniently priced, constantly flavorful and neat.

Everything about this place was excellent. The setting, the atmosphere, the food, and the customer service was par excellence. I truly enjoyed my experience and interaction there. I highly recommend Vinegar Jim's for a dining experience solo and with family and friends.

Great little restaurant! This was our first visit and the food was delicious. Their black Angus steak was seasoned and cooked just right and the mud bug dip was a welcomed change from the typical starter options of other restaurants. The atmosphere is very casual. We will definitely be back many more times.

True Southern fare. Flavorful, great options. Friendly staff. Don’t forget to order a fresh made pie with ice cream...it’s worth the calories!!

Awesome food and service less expensive than expected for great food

Some things have changed. No longer able to BYOB and service was good but slow. Would still go there for dinner, just not a first choice local for me anymore.

A couple of friends and I chose this restaurant because they had never been. The most health conscious among us had a salad and baked potato. (Of course that was after she ordered the fried pickles appetizer which she shared and they were very, very good!) My other friend and I ordered the 'Southern' BLT because it sounded different - and it was yummy! (Candied bacon, crushed pecans, fried green tomatoes, and baby spinach on French bread) They also didn't disappoint with the fried okra. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive as well. Give them a try!

Pappadeaux catfish was great. Gumbo was great. Mud bug dip was delicious. Banana cake was surprisingly amazing. Fried pies wonderful. Truly a hidden gem. Why go to a big chain with food this great right here. Loved it. Great service topped off the experience.

I felt that the staff was following good COVID-19 protocol. The food was excellent. Cost $39 for two dishes, drinks, dessert alamode. Catfish and Banana cake was really, really good!

Came here for supper after a long day. My wife and I were both more then impressed with the service(Blaine) and the food. Try the Mud Bug Dip. Best dip we have ever had. My Ribeye was cooked to perfection. My wife has sautéed shrimp which she said was great. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting and the food was perfect

Good plate lunch, was not a fan of the turnip greens, (only because I'm accustomed to the unhealthy recipe). Wait staff was good and very attentive.

Unfortunately, this was not a great night at VJ’s; I have had good experiences there. It was a slam packed Friday night, so there was no parking. Our large party was there for a birthday gathering and were seated quickly due to calling ahead. We were not in a hurry and didn’t mind a wait, but our food arrived two hours after being seated so that was a bit much. (Actual two hours) Our waitress was super nice but not equipped to handle a large group on a slammed night. We felt abandoned as she took care of her other customers. Our food arrived and over half of us ordered steak but most of us could not eat it due to excessive gristle. It was disappointing. On a good note, the chocolate fried pie was amazing and the reason this review was given two stars! If the food had been better we probably would go back but after that long of a wait then inedible food, we will pass.

From the moment you step in that place team give you an agreeable feeling. Very congenial waiters, it is a nice place to enjoy with friends or with your date. heavenly food, skillful chief cook and stuff, decent pay and excellent service. Warmly recommended.

Great food! Kind of a long wait for a large party of 8. But we did not know you could call ahead. Next time we will definitely call ahead! Again food was great!
